Weekly Themes and Values:

Each week at Camp Kellogg we will be focusing on a new theme that highlights a different value we’re striving to instill in our campers!  We have aligned our Camp Kellogg values with those of our parent organization, Alaska Pacific University.

RESPECT – We honor the uniqueness of others and show reverence for the land we live and play on.

RELEVANCE – We observe that there is a connection to be found between every living thing.

RESPONSIBILITY – We build a stronger community by sharing the work that needs to be done and showing care to others.

RECIPROCITY– We strive for a balance of give and take for the benefit of all; we share because we care.

WISDOM – We show up with an openness to continual learning from others and the world around us, every day.

Leader in Training:

2024 will bring a fresh and dynamic perspective to the Leader in Training program at Camp Kellogg.  Through a balance of mentorship and collaboration, participants will discover the power of a give-and-take learning environment, where every voice is heard and valued, and the group takes precedence over the individual. Leadership is a continuous journey of growth and self-discovery.

Join us for Camp Kellogg’s Leadership in Training (LIT) program, where participants will work collaboratively to develop communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills that will help them lead with confidence and compassion! Leaders quickly learn that the key to collaborative leadership is to know when it may be appropriate to follow another person’s ideas, particularly in moments when the group takes precedence over the individual. LITs will engage in a give-and-take learning environment, where they can practice such nuances of leadership in a supportive community. Additionally, LITs will learn about the intricacies of running Camp Kellogg, including relevant policies and procedures, lesson planning, and overall development and organization of programs. LIT participants will have the opportunity take on the role of “outdoor leader” and connect with younger campers by assisting camp staff with their programming each morning; participants will convene in the afternoons for LIT learning sessions and group activities.
